Most home installations are completed in a single day, sometimes two for larger systems or homes needing extra scaffolding. We’ll confirm the exact timeframe when we survey your property.
Most homes don’t. Solar panels are usually covered under “permitted development rights,” so no planning application is needed. Exceptions can apply to listed buildings or conservation areas — we’ll flag this during your free consultation if it’s relevant to you.
Yes. Flat roofs use a tilted mounting frame so panels still face the optimal angle for sunlight. It’s a common setup and doesn’t affect the quote process.
Our installers work in most weather conditions. If conditions are genuinely unsafe (high winds, storms), we’ll reschedule to protect both our team and your property — we’ll always keep you updated if this happens.
MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) is the UK’s official quality standard for renewable installations. It’s required if you want to be eligible for the Smart Export Guarantee (getting paid for energy you export) and gives you peace of mind that the work meets national safety and performance standards. All our installations are MCS certified.
This depends on your roof size, energy usage, and system size, which is why we don’t quote a single number for everyone. During your free consultation, we’ll talk through expected generation and savings for your specific home.
Not necessarily. Panels let you use solar power during daylight hours and export any surplus.
A battery lets you store that surplus and use it in the evening instead so you stay off the grid. This increases your savings but adds to the upfront cost. We’ll help you weigh this up based on your usage.
DNO stands for Distribution Network Operator — the company that manages the electricity grid in your area. Most solar installations require a DNO application to formally connect your system to the grid. We handle this for you as part of the installation process.
Small systems up to 3.68kW, can usually go ahead and get something called a G98 from the DNO after installation.
Bigger installs over 3.68kW will need a G99 from the DNO before installation is allowed.
G99 and G98s are important documents which you will need to give your energy company for exporting electricity.
The standard Statutory Cost Cap has been raised to £10,000 per property (up from the previous £3,500) factoring in any qualifying expenditure incurred from 1 October 2025 onwards.

Solar panels are a genuine selling point for many buyers, as they lower running costs for the next owner too. Warranties (typically 10–25 years on equipment, 10 years workmanship) usually transfer with the property, though it’s worth checking your specific documentation when you sell.
Very little. Panels have no moving parts and are designed to withstand UK weather. An occasional visual check and keeping them clear of heavy debris (leaves, snow) is usually all that’s needed. Inverters may need replacing once during the panels’ lifetime, typically after 10–15 years, but panels have warranties up to 25 years.
