WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for a hands-on IT Manager to own day-to-day IT operations, security hygiene, and workplace technology across our offices and field-based teams.
This role is about building a reliable, secure, and well-governed IT environment that enables frontline teams to deliver for customers without friction. You’ll balance structure and pragmatism introducing clear processes, improving security, and strengthening governance, without slowing the business down.
You’ll be:

- Vendor-savvy – confident managing third parties and improving governance over systems, data, and access
KEY RESPONSBILITIES
IT Operations & Support
- Own day-to-day IT operations: onboarding/offboarding, access provisioning, device setup, and troubleshooting
- Implement and manage a measurable support process (ticketing, SLAs, escalation)
- Maintain accurate asset inventory for devices, licences, and systems
- Own IT documentation, runbooks, and internal knowledge base
Identity, Access & Microsoft 365 Governance
- Own Microsoft 365 administration, including Entra ID (Azure AD), identities, groups, licensing, and role-based access
- Manage Exchange Online: mail flow, shared mailboxes, distribution lists, aliases, transport rules, and permissions
- Support email authentication and deliverability (SPF/DKIM/DMARC)
- Drive SharePoint and OneDrive governance, including secure sharing and lifecycle policies
- Implement strong joiner/mover/leaver processes
- Manage Teams administration basics (policies, lifecycle, guest access, meeting room setup)
Security & Compliance
- Implement core security controls: MFA, conditional access, endpoint protection, patching, encryption, and secure configuration
- Administer Microsoft security tooling (e.g., Defender) and manage alerts and basic triage
- Support information protection controls such as sensitivity labels and DLP where appropriate
- Support GDPR-aligned data handling and retention processes
- Manage third-party supplier access to systems and tools
- Coordinate external security activities (e.g. audits, penetration testing) and track remediation
Device Management
- Own endpoint management and standard builds for laptops and mobile devices
- Manage device lifecycle: procurement, enrolment, patching, replacement, and secure disposal
- Support MDM tooling (e.g. Intune) and device compliance standards
Networking & Workplace Technology
- Own office connectivity: internet lines, firewalls, switches, Wi-Fi, and vendor support
- Manage workplace technology including printers, AV, meeting rooms, and telephony/VoIP
- Ensure monitoring and documentation for connectivity and network issues
Business Continuity & Resilience
- Own backups and recovery procedures for key IT systems (where in scope)
- Support incident response readiness and documentation
- Improve monitoring and alerting across core IT services
Vendor & Budget Management
- Manage relationships with IT suppliers (MSP, hardware, telephony, security vendors)
- Support hardware and SaaS procurement and lifecycle planning
- Track IT spend and maintain visibility of services and licences
Continuous Improvement
- Identify recurring IT issues and deliver pragmatic improvements
- Contribute to IT policies, standards, and knowledge documentation
SKILLS/ QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Essential
- Experience as an IT Manager, Senior IT Engineer, or IT Operations Lead in an SME or scaling organisation
- Strong Microsoft 365 administration (Entra ID/Azure AD, Exchange Online, SharePoint/OneDrive, Teams)
- Solid understanding of security fundamentals (MFA, conditional access, patching, endpoint management, least privilege)
- Experience implementing structured IT support operations (ticketing, asset management, documentation)
- Strong communication skills and ability to support non-technical stakeholders
- Comfortable managing office networking with third-party providers
Desirable
- Experience with device management (e.g. Intune/MDM) and security tooling (e.g. Defender, EDR)
- Familiarity with security frameworks such as Cyber Essentials or ISO 27001
- Experience working with GDPR-aligned processes
- Experience coordinating with software or platform teams on access and incident response
- Relevant certifications (e.g. Microsoft, ITIL, CompTIA Security+)
