About Alpha Living

Alpha Living is a housing association dedicated to housing and providing sensitive services for older people. They have over 960 apartments across 11 local authorities in the North of England.

Alpha Living offer residents a home with the safety and security of a team of managers and housekeepers. They are proud to have an 88% resident satisfaction score.

Background

Alpha Living wanted to embrace proven renewable technology.

Technology that was easy to use, have an impact on residents bills and help the environment.

Solar panels fitted the bill.

Other options were seen as “a little bit scary” according to Zoe Carmichael, the Director of Asset Management at Alpha Living.

The challenge

Solar panels were to be fitted at Willow Court.

Willow Court is a modern two-storey building with 35 flats in Winsford, just outside Liverpool.

The project was to be designed and installed using SolShare. Solshare technology shares power from a single rooftop PV array to multiple flats, making it the perfect choice for this project.

A key priority was to complete the installation quickly and efficiently with minimal disruption to residents.

How we helped

We fitted over 200 solar panels on Willow Court’s roof.

Using Solshare, we connected residents’ flats to the solar panels without the need for a separate inverter for each flat.

The project was completed in less than 6 weeks.

Testimonial

“We are a value-based organisation and it’s so lovely to work with a company that mirrors our values and takes care of our residents”

Zoe Carmichael - Director of Asset Management - Alpha Living

Results

The renewable measures we installed resulted in cutting up to 91 tonnes of carbon emissions and improved the energy efficiency rating of all the flats.

Residents are now saving up to 50% on their energy bills every month.
