Voltalis

Voltalis, a French energy company founded in 2006, are leaders in intelligent electricity demand management. Using proprietary technology, their smart devices link the electricity grid and consumer appliances to modulate energy flow during peak demand.

This Demand Response (DR) management reduces strain on the grid, cuts reliance on fossil fuel power plants, and delivers user savings of up to 15%.

With over 1.5 million connected devices across Europe, Voltalis is expanding in the UK.

Background

Voltalis needed a trusted installation partner for large-scale deployment of its smart devices across the UK. Given our extensive expertise and proven experience we were chosen to lead the installation project.

The project kicked off in London, at the Harrow campus of Westminster University. 832 Voltalis units had to be connected to individual electric heaters in student rooms and communal areas.

The challenge

The core challenge was the timeline:

  • Volume and Deadlines: Installing 832 units required detailed planning. The project had to be completed within a strict four-week window over summer when students were on holiday. Any delay would cause disruption and security issues.
  • Complex Logistics: The work involved coordinating access to sites and halls, managing equipment inventory on-site, and ensuring electrical connectivity met Voltalis’s standards for grid stability services.

How we helped

To achieve over 800 installations in 20 working days, teams had pre-staged kits for specific halls and floors which cut travel time and maximised room-to-room efficiency.

Teams followed a precise unit installation protocol covering room access, safety checks, device mounting, electrical wiring, and testing.

Progress Tracking: We provided Voltalis with a daily progress dashboard. This allowed for immediate troubleshooting of any access or connectivity issues, preventing bottlenecks.

Testimonial

“Eco Approach not only completed the installation on time, but did so with absolute professionalism. Their ability to scale, coordinate complex logistics, and meet tight deadlines, is why they’re our essential partner for UK projects.”

Paul Makin - Operations Director, Voltalis

Results

We successfully completed the project on time with the campus ready for the students return without any disruption.

All connected devices were immediately added to the Voltalis Virtual Power Plant (VPP), cutting the university energy spending.

The successful, rapid rollout showcases our proven capability to handle critical, large-scale projects under intense time pressure.
