We caught up with David Allison, our Operations Managers, at the start of a new ECO4 project in Luton.
We wanted to find out what happens on day one of a large project, after months of planning and – when work finally begins.
David was on site early, and shared thoughts about the days and weeks ahead.
“We’re officially on the ground for our latest ECO4 project. Day one isn’t about celebrating; it’s about setting a safe and secure site, coordinating deliveries, ensuring teams know their roles and responsibilities and engaging with residents.”
“Although we’ve engaged closely with residents until now, seeing our team in their neighbourhood, on their streets and in their homes can be daunting. The constant flow of materials, coordinating different trades and minimising disruption for residents, is a daily high-stakes puzzle.”
“We’re not just installing equipment in a building; we’re working in people’s homes. We’re always available and often have residents talk to us. Finding time to have a conversation builds relationships and helps deliver the project smoothly. It’s funny, we get to feel part of the community for a short time, which is great!”
“Also, every install, from loft insulation to air source heat pumps, must be documented perfectly. Our challenge is to maintain speed without sacrificing quality. We hope to complete this project in 8 weeks and our success will be measured on three fronts”
“100% Compliance: Every installation is verified, certified, and fully compliant with PAS and TrustMark.”
“Tangible Energy Transformation: An immediate and measurable improvement in the home’s energy performance. A jump in the EPC rating means lower bills and a warmer, healthier home for residents.”
“A Zero-Snag Handover: Success also means completing the project with zero outstanding issues. Right first time.”
“This is a marathon, not a sprint – but we are setting a fast pace from the start.”
In eight weeks, we’ll revisit this project with David. We’ll share the results, feedback, and lessons learned. We’re excited to show you the before and after, proving that complex, compliant, and life-changing home upgrades are not only possible but scalable under ECO4.
