WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a Lead Engineer with a strong background in renewables, gas, and construction to oversee the safe and efficient delivery of social housing retrofit projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing installation teams and subcontractors, excellent technical knowledge of renewable technologies, and a commitment to safety, quality, and customer care. You will act as the main point of contact on-site for clients, tenants, and stakeholders, ensuring works are delivered to specification, on time, and within budget.

KEY RESPONSBILITIES

  • Supervise day-to-day site operations, managing direct labour and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with MCS & Gas/ G3 regulations and company standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor quality, progress, and H&S compliance.
  • Oversee scheduling, resource allocation, and material ordering.
  • Act as site lead for clients, tenants, and stakeholders, resolving issues promptly.
  • Work sensitively within occupied properties, ensuring high levels of customer care.
  • Deliver against KPIs including safety, quality, programme delivery, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage site waste and environmental controls in line with policies.
  • Attend site/project meetings and provide updates to senior management.
  • Contribute to innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.
  • Uphold company values and professional standards at all times.
  • Install, commission, and handover domestic boilers and ASHP systems in residential properties.
  • Carry out associated system upgrades (pipework, cylinders, controls).
  • Complete required documentation, commissioning certificates, and handovers.
  • Maintain high levels of customer service and professionalism on-site.
  • Liaise with office teams to ensure installs are delivered to programme.

SKILLS/ QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in renewables, or energy efficiency projects..
  • Strong technical knowledge of ASHP, including manufacturer specific information
  • Experience managing subcontractors and direct labour.
  • Sound knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).

Requirements:

  • Gas Safe Registered (with CCN1 & CENWAT as a minimum).
  • ASHP qualification – e.g., LCL/BPEC Level 3 Award in Heat Pump Systems.
  • Unvented G3 certificate.
  • Water Regulations
  • LPG (Desired)
  • DBS (basic) may be required depending on contract.
  • CSCS Card (Desired)
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • Working at heights
