WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for a Retrofit Advisor whose primary purpose is to ensure that all resident clients of dwellings undergoing retrofit improvement measures in accordance with PAS 2035 receive independent and effective energy advice at key stages of the project.
This role is essential to achieving successful retrofit outcomes tailored to the needs of the resident clients. You’ll act in the best interests of occupants, landlords, funding bodies, and the wider public—ensuring that all advice is clear, accessible, and compliant with PAS 2035.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Obtain intended project outcomes, property details, and contact information from the Retrofit Coordinator to schedule appointments.
- Gather relevant property information (e.g., EPCs, prior improvements, extensions, or access constraints) from online sources or landlords.
- Coordinate convenient appointments with all clients and ensure they are informed of time and access requirements.
- Provide tailored energy advice that reflects the needs of each resident client, ensuring clarity and accessibility (taking account of language, hearing, or sight challenges).
- At project inception: advise on energy cost reduction, effective system use, retrofit technologies, retrofit processes, health and safety risks, and energy performance data requirements.
- During option evaluation: explain potential measures, costs, benefits, and recommendations for inclusion in the project.
- During design stage: explain key features of retrofit designs (in collaboration with the Retrofit Coordinator/Designer).
- At handover: explain installed measures, benefits, operation, maintenance requirements, and relevant guarantees or quality assurance regimes.
- Address client questions constructively, referring complex queries to the Retrofit Coordinator or other specialists.
- Verify that advice has been fully understood by resident clients.
- Provide confirmation to the Retrofit Coordinator that advice has been delivered, including a summary of topics covered and any significant concerns raised.
SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Required:
- Customer-focused with excellent oral and written communication skills
- Self-organised with strong time management skills
Desirable:
- Experience in providing energy efficiency advice to residents
- Understanding of energy use in the home, retrofit measures, and building physics
- Experience in the domestic retrofit sector
- Experience using Eco-Surv or other CRM systems
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds Energy Awareness, Green Deal Advisor)
