WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking a proactive and experienced SHEQ Manager to lead and support our SHEQ Advisors and Compliance Officers. This role will play a critical part in ensuring effective delivery of our SHEQ strategy, driving compliance with legislation and ISO standards, and embedding a culture of safety, sustainability, and quality across all business operations.
The SHEQ Manager will act as the link between operational SHEQ delivery and senior leadership, ensuring that risks are well managed, teams are well supported, and performance is consistently improved.
KEY RESPONSBILITIES
• Line manage, mentor, and develop SHEQ Advisors and Compliance Officers, ensuring team effectiveness and professional growth.
• Oversee and coordinate site audits, inspections, and compliance checks across multiple projects.
• Ensure robust incident investigations and root cause analyses are completed, and corrective actions are implemented.
• Support the Head of HS&C in developing and delivering the company-wide SHEQ strategy.
• Monitor and report on SHEQ performance metrics, providing regular updates and recommendations to senior management.
• Oversee the maintenance of SHEQ records and documentation, including risk assessments, COSHH, method statements, and permit-to-work systems.
• Ensure compliance with UK HSE legislation, CDM regulations, and ISO management systems (9001, 14001, 45001).
• Promote sustainability initiatives and best practice in waste management, biodiversity protection, and carbon reduction.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulators to maintain strong relationships and ensure compliance across supply chains.
• Support external and internal audits, accreditations, and certification processes.
SKILLS/ QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Essential:
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (minimum NEBOSH General Certificate with significant management experience considered).
• Proven experience in a SHEQ leadership role, ideally within renewables, construction, or energy sectors.
• Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001.
• Excellent understanding of UK HSE legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Strong leadership and people management skills with proven experience developing teams.
• Effective communicator with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
• Organised, detail-oriented, and proactive in identifying improvements.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
Desirable:
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations, Temporary Works, and large-scale renewable energy projects.
• Previous experience in client-facing SHEQ roles with exposure to external audits and regulators.
