Havebury Housing Partnership - Bury St. Edmonds

Havebury Housing Partnership

Havebury Housing Partnership owns and manages over 7,500 homes for rent and shared ownership across the east of England.

They are committed to providing high-quality, affordable housing and are continuously exploring innovative solutions to improve the energy efficiency of their homes and reduce costs for their residents.

Background

Residential blocks traditionally faced difficulties in accessing solar energy.

Unlike other types of homes, where each property can have its own solar installation, apartment buildings need a centralised solution which can share solar power to multiple apartments.

The challenge

Many residents were experiencing high energy bills and were not aware they could benefit from solar energy.

To tackle this challenge, we worked closely with  Havebury Housing Partnership to install 170 solar panels, creating a 72kW solar array on the roof of two buildings.

The array was integrated with Solshare technology, a smart energy-sharing platform that lets multiple households benefit from a single solar PV system.

Using intelligent distribution technology, SolShare optimally allocates solar-generated electricity to each apartment, so residents get a fair share of the renewable energy.

How we helped

Our team managed the end-to-end installation process and were able to complete the project ahead of schedule, in just 3 weeks.

Our engagement team provided residents with advice and information on how the system worked. They also explained the benefits and how residents could maximise their savings.

Testimonial

“After the success of this scheme we will be rolling Solshare out to another 13 of our supported living schemes”

Josh Churchill - Asset Sustainability Lead

Results

Residents experienced instant reductions in their electricity costs. Carbon emissions were reduced and EPC ratings improved, which supported Havebury Housing Partnership’s long-term goals.

The installation of Solshare technology shows that shared solar solutions for multi-unit residential buildings are not only feasible but also highly effective in cutting energy costs and reducing environmental impact.

We look forward rolling Solshare out to more apartment blocks for Havebury.
